Eunhui-ne Sikdang

은희네식당

A fish-focused local restaurant in Abai Village's grilled-fish lane, directly across from Abai Gonggal Bread. Treat it as a straightforward Sokcho seafood meal: grilled fish per person for the easiest first order, mixed braised fish or fresh cod soup for a deeper local table, and red crab bibimbap or blanched octopus when visitors want something easy to understand.

The Story

Before opening this restaurant, the owner spent about 20 years running a seafood trading business. She later operated Jangcheon Sikdang in Jangsa-dong, moved to the current Abai Village location, and reopened under the Eunhui-ne name. The restaurant is now heading into its third summer in this spot.

“저희 생선구이 다 손님들이 맛있다고 그래요. - Guests tell us our grilled fish is delicious.”

— Owner, Eunhui-ne Sikdang

What They Stand For

The owner's confidence is direct and practical: serve fish in a way guests recognize as delicious. Rather than building the story around decoration, Eunhui-ne leans on grilled fish, braised fish, cod soup, and other Sokcho seafood dishes that match the neighborhood.

Behind the Signature

Eunhui-ne sits in a fish-grill lane by the sea, so the menu follows Sokcho's strengths: grilled fish, braised fish, red crab, octopus, mulhoe in summer, and hot seafood soups. The owner is especially confident in mixed braised fish and fresh cod soup, while the grilled fish set is the clearest introduction for first-time visitors.

Local Tip

The restaurant is directly across from Abai Gonggal Bread and close to the Gaetbae ferry approach. It works well before or after an Abai Village walk: eat a fish meal here, then cross the ferry route or pick up gonggal-ppang as a snack nearby.

Seasonal Note

Mulhoe has long been one of the restaurant's main items and becomes especially popular in summer. Market-price soups such as mulgom-tang, dochi roe soup, and sandfish stew depend on seasonal catch and availability.

For Travelers

Foreign guests visit occasionally, but ordering can be difficult because the owner does not speak English. Keep the English menu open and point to the Korean dish name; phone translation also works, as a recent Chinese guest used it to order successfully and left satisfied.
