Coffee roasted by one pair of hands, a cup shaped by another: Zanzan Sokcho brings a local coffee collaboration and the owner's handmade ceramics together near Sokcho Beach. Sip a Sokcho Coffee blend from pottery made by the owner, try iced green-tangerine coffee with homemade Jeju citrus preserve, or settle in with a personal bowl of fresh-fruit bingsu on a strawberry-milk base. Then browse mugs and small ceramic pieces, from Sokcho Coffee designs to sea-colored glazes. A quiet coffee break can become a little piece of Sokcho to take home.

Pro tip: For an Americano, choose Seorak Mist (설악의 안개) for a nutty, soft cup or Sea Breeze (바다의 산들바람) for bright floral notes and pleasant acidity. The menu requests one menu item per person. Handmade pottery is sold separately; confirm each piece's price. There is no on-site parking: the owner directs drivers to temporary beach parking about 300 m away. Pottery classes are at a separate Yangyang workshop; ask the owner about arrangements.

## Story

### How it started
Previously called Sokchosu, this space grew from a collaboration between a ceramic artist and a coffee specialist. Through the Sokcho Cultural Foundation's Dalgeurak Hwalryeokso program, the owner worked with Bong's Specialty on the Sokcho Coffee brand; a designer connected with the foundation created its logo. The current cafe is on Saemaeul-gil near Sokcho Beach.

### Philosophy
The owner's motto is 'Put Sokcho's coffee into pottery.' Cups are made to feel approachable: everyday objects to hold, use, and enjoy. The name Zanzan plays on calm memories of the sea and jan, the Korean word for a cup. Coffee and ceramics share the same table, each carrying the touch of its maker.

### Signature
The printed coffee story offers two moods: Seorak Mist combines Ethiopian floral notes with the soft texture of Brazilian coffee, while Sea Breeze is a bright, fragrant blend with a refreshing finish. The owner's homemade green-tangerine preserve gives the iced citrus coffee its seasonal character. Fresh-fruit bingsu layers seasonal fruit over a homemade strawberry-milk base in a bowl sized for one.

### Finding the place
Find the first-floor cafe at 42 Saemaeul-gil, beside the Saemaeul self-service civil-document center and near Sokcho Beach. Browse handmade mugs, sea-inspired glazes, and small ceramic objects after your drink. The Yangyang pottery workshop is separate from the cafe, about a 15-minute drive according to the owner; enquire about class availability before going.

### Seasonal notes
Green-tangerine coffee uses seasonal homemade pressed Jeju citrus preserve. Bingsu fruit changes with the season. Ceramic designs, gift-set availability, and individual prices vary with the pieces in store.

### For international visitors
The owner uses simple English and translation tools, including ChatGPT, to help international visitors. Handcrafted cups often draw particular interest. The owner recalls visitors from South Africa and Britain commissioning an incense holder through a long conversation with gestures, then sending an English letter after receiving the finished piece in Seoul.
