At a small counter in Sokcho's Saemaeul neighborhood, Jindam turns handmade kalguksu into a meal with a beginning and an ending. The dough rests for 24 hours before it becomes chewy, housemade noodles. Try the chicken noodles first with perilla oil, then pour the remaining broth over sticky rice; or finish a dense, creamy soybean bowl with a little sweet red bean. Butter and salted roe offer a richer path through the same fresh noodles.

Pro tip: Plan for a full bowl rather than a quick noodle stop: the chicken kalguksu has a perilla-oil first course and a sticky-rice finish, while the soybean noodles end with red bean. The 14-seat counter works well for solo diners. Parking in front is limited; Naver points to a temporary public lot by Sokcho Beach's south gate, about two minutes away on foot.

## Story

### How it started
Jindam means putting sincerity into the bowl. After years in hotel and restaurant service, the owner moved from Seoul to Sokcho with his wife and taught himself how to make noodles from the dough up. Both are qualified sommeliers, and their experience in hospitality shapes the pace of this small counter restaurant: each diner gets a carefully composed bowl and the time to enjoy its final bite.

### Philosophy
The noodles are made here rather than bought in. The kitchen mixes and rests the dough, then adjusts its daily noodle-making to the room's temperature and humidity. The owner would rather keep those steps and the service around each dish intact than shorten the experience when the counter fills up.

### Signature
The chicken kalguksu begins with springy noodles tossed in perilla oil and perilla-seed powder. The chicken is torched in front of guests, and a portion of sticky rice turns the remaining clear, deep broth into a comforting last course. The soybean noodles take a different route: their rich, almost creamy Korean-soybean broth is finished with red bean for a gentle, dessert-like final taste.

### Finding the place
Find Jindam on the ground floor of 17 Saemaeul 13-gil, a walk inland from Sokcho Beach. There are 14 counter seats, including places comfortable for a solo meal. Front-of-shop parking is limited; the south-gate beach parking area is the easier fallback.

### For international visitors
An English menu and English-speaking service are available. The butter and salted-roe kalguksu are an approachable way to try a different kind of Korean noodle dish, while the chicken bowl comes with a few serving steps that the staff can explain at the counter.
