Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory is one of Sokcho's Eight Sights and a working lighthouse on the hill above Yeonggeumjeong. It closed on 23 March 2026 for renovation and reopened on 27 June 2026 with a new stone observation-deck floor, reinforced railings and rebuilt stairs. The deck and indoor spaces run 09:00-17:00 and the outdoor grounds 09:00-18:00, every day, free of charge; the terrace looks over Dongmyeong Port, the open East Sea, the city and the Seoraksan ridgeline on clear days.
Pro tip
Don't plan your day around this viewpoint alone. Pair it with Yeonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion and Lighthouse Beach, and check on the day whether the lighthouse interior is open.
