# Sokcho Port-to-Beach Walk

A flat 2.5 km walk from the Sokcho cruise terminal through Abai Village's coastal lanes and Cheongho Beach to Sokcho Beach, designed to stay usable after you leave the ship's Wi-Fi.

## Curated stops

1. Sokcho Cruise Terminal — Start
   Open the walking map on the ship's Wi-Fi and wait for the offline-save confirmation before leaving. At the terminal, follow current pedestrian exit signs if they differ from the saved line.
2. Abai Village Lane — Village
   The first 800 metres bring you into Abai Village's lived-in waterfront streets. Keep the pace slow and treat the residential lanes as a neighbourhood rather than a photo set.
3. Cheongho Beach — Coast
   This is where the route turns onto the exposed coastal stretch. The terrain stays level, but strong East Sea wind can make the final section feel longer than the distance suggests.
4. sokcho-beach — Finish
   Finish at Sokcho Beach with the express bus terminal and taxi access nearby. This is a one-way route, so protect enough shore time to retrace it or return to the ship by taxi.

## Intro

This is the direct southbound walk from Sokcho's cruise terminal to its main
beach. It does not use the longer Cheongchoho lakeside arc. Instead, it follows
the edge of Abai Village, turns toward Cheongho Beach, and stays close to the
East Sea until the sand at Sokcho Beach.

The route is useful for a cruise call because it is simple to read offline:
one continuous line, almost no climbing, and the sea as the final orientation
point. The saved line comes from a Naver Map walking-route export, while the
basemap, route, stops, and current-position dot all run inside HeySeorak's
offline MapLibre map.

## The walk

**Cruise terminal → Abai Village Lane (about 12 minutes).** Leave the terminal
area and follow the saved line south toward Cheongho-dong. This first section
is urban rather than scenic, but it removes the hardest offline decision: how
to get from the port gate into the walkable part of Abai Village.

**Abai Village Lane → Cheongho Beach (about 8 minutes).** The line threads
through the village streets before turning east toward the water. Use the
Korean place names on the map to match local signs, and give residents room in
the narrow lanes.

**Cheongho Beach → Sokcho Beach (about 20 minutes).** The final 1.3 km is the
coastal payoff. It is level and direct, with fewer navigation decisions than
the lagoon route. On windy days, keep the route but allow extra time rather
than trying to add another distant stop.

<ProTip>Before you leave the ship's Wi-Fi, open the walking map and wait for
“Saved for offline.” GPS still works without roaming. The route line does not
reroute if you leave it, so use your blue position dot to return to the saved

## Keep the return leg honest

This is a one-way walk, not a loop. Sokcho Beach is close to taxi pickup and
the express bus terminal, but neither should replace your own return buffer.
Set the all-aboard countdown before you start and follow the ship's instructions
over any estimate shown on the map.

The exported route should also be treated as a prepared walking line, not a
claim that every port gate or temporary construction zone will remain
unchanged. Follow posted access signs where the physical route differs.
